On April 8th, 2024, the winners of the Byun Han Lee Humanities Scholarship were announced. The competition was open to students from the the 7th to the 12th Grade. Students were supposed to either write essays or drawings discussing or depicting what they believed "humanity" meant in their lives. We had winners in the 12th, 9th, 8th and 7th grades. Their work is on a a separate display at the following collection.
The winner of the essay category for the 12th grade was Leslie Omana from the Hempstead School District. She received $500.
The overall winner of the fine arts (drawing) category went to 9th
grader Hana Kim from the Great Neck School District. She received $500.
The winner of the essay category for the 8th grade was Steven Diaz from the Brentwood School District. He received $300.
The winner of the essay category for the 7th grade was Eliana Ramirez from Brentwood School District. She received $300.
