Roslyn Students Place at NYS Science and Engineering Fair

Four Roslyn High School students placed at the New York State Science and Engineering Fair (NYSSEF) — held at the New York Hall of Science in Queens on March 28, 2022. Junior Jessie Dong received a first place award and will go on to compete in the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) this May in Atlanta. Brian Song received a second place award; Maxx Yung and Elle Kaplan both received an Honorable Mention.

Jessie’s project studied the potential role of flavonoids—chemicals found in fruits and vegetables—in treating various types of cancer. “It was a very rewarding experience and I’m extremely excited to participate in ISEF,” said Jessie. “I am looking forward to meeting other researchers from all over the world and learning from them!” "We congratulate all four students for making it so far in this statewide competition. We hope Jessie has a wonderful experience at the international fair," said Dr. Allyson Weseley, Roslyn’s Coordinator of Secondary Research.
